Why Chrome shows a share dialog (and what to pick)

Why the dialog exists

A web page can't silently record your screen; the browser always asks you to confirm what to share. That's a browser rule, not ours.

Two cases

The site can be embedded. It loads inside the burn page, so Chrome only has to confirm "share this tab". One click.

The site blocks embedding (many stores and apps do). The burn page can't show it, so on the same click it opens the site in a new tab and asks Chrome to share your browser window. The dialog appears over the new tab; choose the window, press Share, and whatever tab you're looking at in that window is recorded.

Tips

• Pick the window, not a single tab. If you pick the burn page's tab by mistake, the recording will show the burn page instead of the site; stop and start again.
• Allow the microphone first if asked; the share dialog comes second.
• Don't switch to a different browser window mid-recording.
