For coaches & course creators
Watch someone read your sales page and decide, out loud.
You wrote the page. Your students say it's great. Strangers scroll it and don't enroll, and you never hear the reason. A burn is a person who fits your ideal student reading it cold and narrating every doubt.

What breaks conversion on sales pages
Long-form pages have one job: keep a stranger reading until the price feels fair. They break in predictable places. The promise is about you, not them. The page says "transformation" six times and never says what week one looks like. The price appears after four thousand words with no anchor. The guarantee is buried under the FAQ. Testimonials are first names and initials with no context. The buy button goes to a checkout on a different domain that looks nothing like the page.
On Kajabi, Teachable, ClickFunnels or a Webflow page, the platform is rarely the problem. The problem is what a stranger assumes in the gaps you didn't fill.
What a burn reveals
The scroll depth where they stopped reading and started skimming. What they said when they saw the price. Which testimonial they believed and which one they rolled their eyes at. Whether they understood what they'd actually receive — videos, calls, a community, a workbook — and for how long. Whether the checkout felt safe.
The Fire Score scores clarity, trust, navigation, offer and conversion readiness, with each finding tied to a quote and timestamp. On three or more burns you get an Insight Report that ranks what to fix first.
How to brief
Describe the person who signed up for your list, not the person who already bought. Give them the mindset ("you've tried two courses on this before and finished neither"). Ask them to read until they'd decide, then go to the checkout page and stop before paying. Ask one closing question about price.
Three briefs you can paste in
The burn form has three fields: who the customer is, what they should try, and one closing question. Copy, edit, submit.
Brief 1
Ideal customer
A woman 35–55 who has bought an online course before, finished half of it, and is skeptical but still hopeful. Shopping on a laptop in the evening.
Task
Read the page like you're deciding tonight. Go to checkout and stop before paying. Tell me the moment you'd have closed the tab.
Closing question
What would have to be true for the price to feel fair?
Brief 2
Ideal customer
A man 28–45 who runs a small business and is considering coaching for the first time. Has never paid more than $200 for anything online.
Task
Work out exactly what you get, how long it lasts, and what happens if it doesn't work. Then try to book the call or enroll.
Closing question
Did this feel like a real person's program or a template? Why?
Brief 3
Ideal customer
Someone on their phone who arrived from a podcast mention and has 90 seconds.
Task
Figure out what this is and whether it's for you before you scroll past the second screen. Then find the price.
Closing question
What did you assume this cost before you saw the number?
How it works

Reject a bad burn, get a new one
They read the way a real prospect does — closely at first, then skimming — and say so out loud. That skim point is one of the most useful things a burn gives you. Recordings are at least two minutes; long pages usually run much longer.
