Strictly necessary

These keep the app working and can't be switched off. bt_session: keeps you signed in (30 days). bt_admin: keeps a BurnTest staff member signed in to the admin console (14 days). bt_oauth: holds the Google sign-in handshake for a few minutes while you log in. bt_csrf: a random value that proves sign-in and account forms were submitted from our own pages (1 year). bt_consent: remembers your cookie choice (180 days). bt_geo: your country from the network, so we know whether to ask for consent first (30 days).

Measurement we run ourselves

bt_aid: a random id so we can count visitors and see the path from a landing page to a burn (1 year). bt_sid: a per-visit id for the same purpose (until you close the browser). bt_utm: the campaign tags on the link that brought you here, kept so we can credit the right campaign if you sign up later (30 days). bt_ref: a referral code from a friend's link, so they get credit when you sign up (30 days). bt_evt: a one-off flag set after sign-up so the next page can report it to the ad tools below, then cleared.

None of these carry your name or email, and they are read only by burntest.io.

Analytics & advertising

When configured, Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) and the Meta Pixel (_fbp) load on our marketing pages so we can see which pages and ads bring people who run a burn. In the EU, UK and Switzerland they load only after you accept on the banner; elsewhere they load unless you decline. We never load ad pixels inside the logged-in app or on pages that show your recordings.

Preferences

The browser's own storage remembers small choices like your default device for new burns and whether you've dismissed a notice. Cleared when you clear your browser storage.

How to control cookies

Use the Accept / Deny choice on the banner, or change your decision at any time from the "Privacy choices" link in the footer. Your browser can also block or delete cookies; the strictly necessary ones are recreated when you sign in. Your data rights (download, delete, opt out of marketing) are in Account settings and described under Your choices on the Privacy page.
